July 26 Website Update~!!! Its been a while since I last update www.artist-llau.com. Took me a while to figure out what to do for this summer. I figure out that my old design/layout doesn't look professional enough, so I decided to give this portfolio site a new look. And here it is, a new look website which is more Maroon than Red, with a more cleaner code.  It took a couple of days to learn how things worked, tinkering, designing, coding and all, but all in all, things will be coming more and more now. It took me at least one and a half months just to figure out the coding from Dreamweaver, layout from Photoshop
and Scripts from Java, to put together a basic website.
Its has a clean layout so its easier to navigate.
Most importantly is that I have my demoreel, and artwork uploaded so I could show you my work.
Even better is that I put lightbox code to overlay images on the current page. Its so COOL~!!!!

August 19 "Gold or nothing" My Reaction on Liu Xiang's Withdraw...If you know Liu Xiang, you will know him as a famous 110m Hurdler from China, who won the gold medal in Athens 2004. His 2004 Olympic gold medal was China's first in a men's track and field event. Liu Xiang in China has been treated like a celebrity, because he set a new standard on China's position on Track and Field for many Olympics to come. Yet the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, its a different story. Liu bore national expectations of a repeat victory on home soil in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. China deemed another gold medal from Liu is essential for a successful Olympics for the whole country. I was at a friends house witnessing history if Liu successfully defending his gold medal . But as you can see, everything went wrong when you see him grabbing his right leg as if he's in pain. The worse part is when he re-aggravated his right leg after a false start and was forced to withdraw and unable to defend his Olympic Gold Medal, leaving a crowd at the Birds Nest Stadium stunned in disbelief. It turns out that Liu has suffered from a chronic inflammation in his right Achilles’ tendon, and has been hampered by it for more than 5 years, according to his coach. The injury would force Liu to unable to compete for the rest of 2008. The aftermath of the event is much worse as he'll be facing media and public scrutiny, to find what went wrong. According to a report on CBC, the blogs of the state broadcaster, CCTV, were not as forgiving. "We cannot accept that Liu Xiang quits! Liu Xiang dispels the passion of Chinese people," read one web posting. THIS IS MY REACTION As a Canadian with Chinese Heritage and a fellow Liu, I am very disgusted by the Chinese people and the medias reaction on Liu Xiang's withdraw and how they treated him after the race. The crying and outpouring of grief of the 1.3 Billion people in China is pathetic, selfish and self-centered! The guy has an Achilles tendon injury and is a death to performance of any runner and no amount of trying will overcome it. Yet since its Beijing 2008, National Pride comes first. China has focused all of their medal hopes on this one man. One of their National sports directors has publicly announced that "if he fails to win the gold, all of his previous accomplishments will be meaningless." He's human, not a tool for National Pride!!! You got almost 40- something gold medals, way ahead of the United States, and yet you still dogged a man who risk his body, just for the sake of National Pride? UNBELIEVABLE!!! I, for one, am glad that Liu Xiang has the courage of walking out of the competition in front of his 90,000 supporters. Do they want to see their national hero leaving the stadium, on a stretcher? I know that Liu wanted to defend his gold medal on home soil, but the pressure of 1.3 billion people in a country, just crushed him. Hope that Liu would successfully recover from his injury and will hopefully will see him again in 2012 London Games... in top form. What most people are referring to is "Hentai". A sick twisted form of porn using "anime style drawings". Yes, Hentai does involve sick twisted sex images and we all can agree it has no place anywhere on this earth. But lets get on thing straight. Anime and Hentai are not two sides of the same coin. Trust me. 99% of anime fans HATE Super Milk Chan. We refuse to call it anime. And anime fans who like shows like "Bo Bo BOBO BO BO" are under the age of 5. **#5 Anime is like american cartoons, no good writing.** Nothing could be further from the truth. So of the most compelling storyline, Characters, and movie quotes can be found in anime. "Junkers, come here" is the best example. I challenge you to not cry at the point where the main character faces her parents and tells them how she feels. WHAAA.... January 17 Traditional is the Real ChineseHave you seen Simplified Chinese? The words seem like they have holes punched through them, empty and meaningless. If you were taught Traditional first, you know exactly what I mean and feel exactly the same way about how Simplified has totally butchered the centuries of artisticly written Chinese to meaningless pieces of uncoordinated strokes. If you were taught Simplified first, you might not understand where we're coming from cause that's how you were taught and that's the way things just are. I don't blame you guys. The two forms of Chinese have always co-existed peacefully for many years. The importance of Traditional Chinese lies in the fact that each character represents a very specific meaning. This is of extreme importance because it allows the reader to understand a written word even without the word being in context. Simplified Chinese, although convenient, fails to incorporate meaning into its characters. Many words of same phonetic sounds are replaced by a single character that possesses the same sound but lacks in meaning. The major downfall of Simplified Chinese is that it lacks meaning. Currently, historical texts are in Traditional Chinese, (simply because one can read and understand based on the author’s choice of words) however, if Traditional Chinese is to be replaced by Simplified Chinese, one would not be able to understand these texts/writings because words have lost their meanings, they simply represent a way of pronouncing the texts. As time progresses, this would result in the loss of history and culture. January 12 I dont know what to do next...Its been a while since I've added a blog. Things have goin' bad to worst for me as I face semester 2. As you can see, I was thinking about quitting Game Design program at the Art Institute of Vancouver, due to lack of confidence, lack of passion, and lack of self-esteem. What's worst is that I can't even deal with the HW, the technology of such as photoshop and maya, and expectactions are high. I've become unorganize, confuse, and lost afterwards. At first, I think I can make videogames so I could create something that I have never done, but in reality it seems I cannot. I don't even know what to do next if I quit the program. I don't see a future in video games, if all I ever do is draw characters. I'm not myself anymore. I feel ashamed. and I've feel disgraceful. My life is a mess. I have no work experience and I don't have any long term plans to find myself a career. I'll lose everything..... I dont even know what to do next. December 21 Christmas Break so farMan, Christmas break is so boring ... don't know wat to do, don't know wat to expect Ever since semester 1 at A.I of Vancouver is over I haven't done much ever since, except drawing and drawing to increase my portfolio for the movie industry or games and spending time playing Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2 for the GBA. GOOD LORD, THAT GAME IS SO DAMN GOOD, EVEN FOR A GBA GAME!!!!!!!! ^____^)/// And of course, downloading Vivian Chows Mandarin songs from the album "盡在不言中" which dates back at 1993!!!! Other than that I still haven't got my "L" yet..... which I might hopefully get before the break is over. It would be a nice christmas present for me after failing it twice. After all, driving in Malaysia helps me clear up my mind on my fears of getting involve in Car Crashes. The only embarrassing moment is that Ken used to drive on the highway in Kuching, which scares the pants out of my cousins friend who is a mechanic and instructor. I forgot what is name is, but I'll know for sure once I went back in few years.  Can't you believe my Brother Drives once drive this in Malaysia???  While I get to drive THIS!!!!????
